On behalf of Geveke, Bresser designed and installed a temporary support structure in the crawl spaces of two apartment buildings in Groningen. This structure enabled the buildings to be safely supported during works aimed at improving their earthquake resistance.

Throughout the operation, the buildings were fully supported without any settlement. Temporary support structures were first installed, allowing the 220 existing grout-injected screw piles to be safely cut and shortened.

Seismic isolators (base isolation) were then installed with millimetre precision between specially engineered permanent steel support structures. Thanks to this approach, the buildings were provided with an earthquake-resistant foundation system, further enhancing their safety and long-term durability.
