Characteristic dyke house from 1888 underpinned and realigned
Commissioned by Waterschap Rivierenland, Bresser successfully stabilised and realigned a characteristic dike house dating from 1888, correcting a tilt of approximately 17 centimetres. The works formed part of a foundation rehabilitation and renovation project aimed at preserving this historic and prominent landmark.
Prior to the realignment works, Bresser installed a new foundation system beneath the property. This included the installation of 20 vibration-free pressed foundation piles, followed by the construction of a new structural floor and load-bearing walls at basement level. Together, these elements provide a durable and future-proof foundation for the building.
The tilt was then carefully corrected using hydraulic jacking techniques. The house was gradually and precisely lifted onto its new foundation and permanently secured in its corrected position. This specialist approach enabled the original character of the historic building to be preserved while significantly improving its structural stability.
The final phase of the project consists of the continued renovation of the property, ensuring that this distinctive piece of heritage can be preserved for future generations.
