Villa transport over land and water

Under great interest, the Vechthoeve, part of UNESCO World Heritage Site the Defence Line of Amsterdam and the New Dutch Waterline, was moved over land and water. The Pipi Langkous house had to make way for an aqueduct to widen the A1 motorway in the Netherlands. The monument has a high architectural-historical value and the relocation will give it a second life in a new location.

Villa transport over water

The ‘Vechthoeve’, a monumental villa near Muiden, is part of the UNESCO Defence Line of Amsterdam and the New Dutch Waterline. At the spot an aqueduct had to be built, part of the reconstruction of the motorway A1. The monument was built to a special law of 1853 and has a high architectural and historical value. Because that value the building was relocated by order of ‘Rijkswaterstaat’

Bresser made a special slab foundation. Then the villa was jacked and special trolleys (SPMT’s) drove under the slab. Meanwhile, a special construction was made on the dike so the villa was able to be transported to the pontoons on the river Vecht. On December 6, 2013, the villa was moved over land and water. The project got great interest from the media.
